U2 360 Tour Moncton
‘Moncton, Hub City, where you gonna take us tonight?’
Moncton in Atlantic Canada was going to take us to the end of the world tonight, and then even further, to the end of U2360, the most successful concert tour of all time. Two years after opening up in Barcelona in June, 2009 tonight the band played their final show in a record-breaking tour of 110 concerts in 30 countries across 5 continents.

‘This is the best time we could be having anywhere,’ explained Bono, adding that the band wanted to make the most of the fact that this is the end of the tour. ‘Eighteen babies, two marriages in the crew, eight separations… over 7 million served!’
The end of ‘Still Haven’t Found’ segued into The Ballad of Springhill while the lyrics of ‘Stay’ were customized for the occasion.
’110 shows, strangely it feels like home
Glad my wife is here tonight, not a night to be alone
Just a bang and a clatter, as 360 leaves town…’
‘
We’re a band from Dublin, Ireland. We’re called U2..’
Out of Control, the band’s first single, was an inspired way to bring things to a close.
‘A higher than high here, out on the Atlantic CoastLarry Mullen, Adam Clayton, Bono, The Edge… still… out of control.’
But there was o
ne final piece of inspiration, marrying this legendary tour to the band’s earliest tours as a bottle of champagne was found for Bono to spray the audience and leave this audience, singing with so many others, as the night came to an end.
‘How long to sing this song
How long to sing this song …’
Bono, Edge and Adam waited at the back of the stage for Larry to end ’40′ and once he did, he took the mike at the front of the stage; ‘We’ll miss you guys, Goodnight!’
With that the four members of U2, arms around each other, took a final bow and the U2360° spaceship was gone.

Ticket sales for this month’s U2 concert in Moncton are increasing by the day as the event nears and the weather continues to improve, according to city officials.
When the iconic Irish rock band announced Moncton would be its final stop on the 360 Tour in North America, the city boasted it hoped to attract 100,000 fans to the Magnetic Hill concert site.

While city officials will not say how many tickets have been sold for the July 30 concert, they have confirmed ticket sales are continuing to move briskly.
Shane Porter, a city spokesman, said the buzz around the U2 concert series is growing and will only increase as July 30 gets closer.
“They’re saying it’s going to go down in the history books as the most successful tour in history, concert tour in history. So to have the last date of that show is pretty special,” Porter said.
Porter said preparations for the seating are well underway and the elaborate staging will start arriving in about a week and a half.
“With this tour, where it’s a 360 tour, there are actually grandstands being built over the area that we used as existing stagepads. So we had to actually come out further in the field and create a stagepad for this stage,” he said.
Porter said the city is finalizing the concert’s transportation plan, which is expected to be released next week. He said there will be some small changes to help traffic move more smoothly.
U2 has two concerts this weekend in Montreal. The band is expecting to draw 80,000 people to each show.
Biggest N.B. concert ever
Moncton officials are expecting the U2 concert to be the largest in the history of the Magnetic Hill outdoor concert venue.
The Rolling Stones concert drew 78,000 in 2005.
The city’s outdoor concert site has also hosted major acts, such as AC/DC, Bon Jovi, the Eagles and Tim McGraw.
When the U2 concert was announced, the city said it would cap the ticket sales at 100,000.
