Rock and roll has very clear rules that go beyond names and generations. Bono (50) claim to know very well: “The first law is not to be boring,” says the leader of U2. Far from becoming a cliché in its genre, the Irish musician dogma preaches that fun above and below the stage. It is therefore not surprising that on his days off since I arrived in the country has been surrendered to the pleasures offered by our land. Five years after his last visit, the artist arrived in Argentina as part of his third tour of South America, the 360 ??º Tour, which began on Friday 25 in Santiago de Chile. Although planned to stay a few days across the mountains, until the date of their first show in the Estadio Unico de La Plata city, on Wednesday, March 30, changed his plans and announced his arrival to the early hours of Saturday.
Bono and guitarist The Edge (David Evans, his baptismal name) rested for a couple of hours in the morning and afternoon of Saturday in the privacy of their suites at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Recoleta. Just fell the sun went around the city. The first stop was the restaurant Fervor, the famous street grill Buenos Aires Posadas and Callao. From the hotel booked two tables, one for the band and one for seven members of staff and some consultants.
About nine-thirty at night, Bono and The Edge came to the place accompanied by bassist Adam Clayton, drummer Larry Mullen Jr. and manager of the group, Paul McGuinness. On his second visit to the rest (the first was under the last concert they gave in the country in 2006), chose grilled tenderloin accompanied by a bed of greens. All offered with a red wine country, except Bono, who opted for a light gas. After an extended desktop, The Edge returned to his hotel room and Bono went on the night in Isabela, a pub superchic of the Palermo Hollywood. The public relations Gaby Alvarez was on hand to receive it with Hector Lanusse, site manager. Bono came to the bar on the advice of their owners, a musician known Irish businessmen. Stood in the courtyard of the bar, around a campfire, along with about twenty friends. Remained in place until four o’clock, when it decided to close its first outing at the disco Tequila Buenos Aires. Eight security guards followed each of his movements.
On Sunday 27, enjoyed the exclusive bonus Rojo Tango show at the Cabaret Faena Hotel + Universe. This time he accompanied his wife, Ali Hewson, newcomer to the country. They were located in one of the tables first row, next to The Edge and his wife, Morleigh Steinger.
The proposal, devised by the producer Antonio Ruiz, combines the best of two for four with a menu designed by chef Mariano Cid de la Paz. Bono jealously reviewed the letter and chose three dishes: shrimp marinated in mild pickled with Romesco sauce and walnut vinaigrette; sorrentinos Patagonian mushrooms stuffed with herb cream, and a traditional brownie with dulce de leche and meringue. Again, avoid wine. Meanwhile, five couples were still dancing to the Quintet Conversely, the live band led by brothers Grecco, with the voices of Esteban Riera and María José Rojas.
Bonus scene looked bemused. And only broke his concentration to capture with his camera the shocking images of a painting called “Oblivion”, where a couple gets naked while playing Piazzola master a topic in a violin solo. Standing ovation also closing the show and compared it with the best international productions. Talking to Marcelo Tokman Ramos, former Minister of Energy of Chile during the government of Michelle Bachelet, praised the Red Tango costume and performance artists.
The desktops included several rounds of tequila and a gamble interesting harangued by the dancers, Bono and The Edge were encouraged to improvise some steps of tango. Alerted by the laughs, John Cusack, who is staying at the hotel while filming his new movie in the country, burst into the room and ended up inviting musicians to share a few drinks at The Library Lounge. So, Bono struck a hard weekend, just the preamble to what will be his stay in Argentina until April 4, when he will leave for Brazil the next stop of the tour.

ONE TREE HILLU2 kicked off their South American tour – featuring opening act Muse – on Friday night at Chile’s National Stadium. The biggest surprise of the set was the Joshua Tree deep cut “One Tree Hill,” which is rarely played outside of New Zealand. “This is a song we only play on extremely special occasions,” Bono told the crowd. “A song about the love of life and the fear of losing it.”
Chilean singer/songwriter Francisca Valenzuela joined the group halfway through to duet on the track, which coincidentally came out about a week before she was born. The South American leg of U2′s 360 tour wraps on April 13th in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The North American leg begins a month later on May 13th in Mexico City and runs through July 30th in Moncton, New Brunswick
