A few fans had the chance to meet and greet Bono yesterday, in Los Angeles. Two of them asked him about the next step U2 will take when it comes to global touring.

With that being said, @u2mp3s on twitter, posted the following:

He said the next tour will be smaller, indoor arenas. Private shows. They will play the obscure songs that they either never played live or haven’t played live in awhile (something like that), especially songs off Pop. Like Gone, Please, Staring at the Sun. Then I told him I wanted to hear Acrobat live and he smiled and his eyes lit up and he said “That’s a great song, but it’s hard to play live.”
Prior to this he also chatted about Anaheim 2. I think he said they changed the setlist because the venue was not really 360 but the previous night’s setlist was designed for a 360 venue so they wanted to try something different for night 2.

A Brazilian fan, Silvia, also chatted with Bono and he told her the same thing: indoor arenas, smaller places, pretty similar to Elevation Tour, with some Pop songs. He also told that they will change the setlist to Glastonbury and that the Anaheim II changes were a ‘rehearsal’ for the upcoming 360º Tour shows.

All of this may be soon confirmed by Adam Clayton, who recently gave an interview about the subject.

Many thanks to U2 Brasil and @u2mp3s for the reports.

Bono talked with fans in Salt Lake City about the next tour and the possibility of playing some B-Sides songs.

During April, the same happened in Sao Paulo, Brazil, during the time that U2 spent there. Around the 28-second mark, Bono suggests an indoor tour and, again, some rarities.

Armando Masse, CEO of Apdayc (Peruvian Association of Authors and Composers) told to local media that U2 could play in the country by the end of this year.

The U2 tour in South America would have a second part, said Massé in relation to negotiations being carried out for Bono and the band to play in Lima, Peru.
“Some businessmen told me that in the second half of this year, U2 may come back. Although there is no information about where they will be performing, negotiations are on track.” said Massé to Perú21.

On the other hand, the representative APDAYC said that bring U2 will be more expensive than bring Paul McCartney. ”Of course it would be a more expensive to bring U2 because musically it is one of the most wanted bands, not as McCartney that is almost at the end of his long career. The amount of money requested for the show would be more than 4.5 million dollars”, he said.

However, the businessman Jorge Ferrand, encharged of the Beatle’s show said that the return of U2 depends on the band managing to set more dates in South America. “These are just discussions, no negotiations, because U2 has no plans to return to South America at the end of the year. And for that, there would have to be more dates on other countries too. It would have to be like McCartney: come back to perform in several countries. U2 is the most complicated of all the shows”, he added.

When it comes to Live Nation, U2, and the way tour dates have been announced on the 360 tour, it seems things are always subject to change. U2 fans can be forgiven for not believing phrases like “final night of the tour” or “last show” and things like that. But it seems more clear that the U2 360 tour will, in fact, have its final show in Moncton on July 30.

The most recent evidence came in one of Willie Williams’ recent U2.com diary entries:

As it is, we now go until the end of July where U2360 will take the final curtain call at Moncton in north-eastern Canada.

(emphasis mine) That’s pretty definitive. Equally certain is this excerpt from last week’s Live Nation news release announcing that the U2 360 tour had become the highest grossing tour ever:

With 26 shows left before the tour finishes in Canada on July 30, U2 360 will also set a new record as the top grossing tour of all time, with final ticket sales due to surpass $700 million.

(emphasis mine again) Also very definitive. Somewhat less certain was the U2 360 roadie interview on U2tour.de, in which Arne de Knegt said “as far as we know” the last show is Moncton. That’s similar to what Edge said last month on Irish radio: “I think we’re probably gonna pack up the U2 claw after the American shows. I doubt if — but you can never say never.”

It seems like Edge and Arne might be a bit hesitant to say when the tour will end, which makes sense given all the changed and re-arranged dates. But Willie and Live Nation are much more definitive, so let’s just say that it’s “pretty much official” about Moncton being the end of the road.
